Below are a few of my favorites from this week.

(301): I think the sex offender registry is kind of a VIP list. You get to not live near noisy schools and parks and all your neighbors get to know you.

I first heard about this group of pranksters back in 2006 with their “Best Buy Prank”. I’d remember the Best Buy Prank periodically but never looked into it much since. Until I checked their website Improv Everywhere. This is the group that orchestrated the Best Buy Prank. Apparently, they have been busy.

Maybe I’m just behind in the times (which could totally be the case), but I just heard about the two following websites which I’ve found to be kinda cool.

The first is Monoprice.com
If you are looking for cables for your home theater components, cables for your computer, etc., this is the place for you. Huge selection and great prices.

The second is Power101.com
Got a digital camera with a bad battery? DO NOT go to Best “Screw you any way we can” Buy before checking out this site. The battery for my new digital camera costs only $.21. Crazy!

Moronic Reviewer

I was browsing CNN.com last night and found a link to a TIME article reviewing the Super Bowl ads. I found the review, by JAMES PONIEWOZIK, of the Diet Pepsi Max commercial interesting…

Across America, people are falling asleep: sportscasters, singers, valets, factory workers. Until they get a wake-up — and get an apparently uncontrollable head tic — from Pepsi Max, with “ginseng and extra caffeine.” Bizarrely, closes with an irritated man yelling “STOP IT!” at two happy head bobbers, as if the commercial itself could not avoid noticing how stupid it is.

Grade: C-

My question is: Shouldn’t someone who is reviewing pop culture items, have a knowledge of pop culture? I mean, it seems everyone who hears that infamous ‘What is Love?’ song, immediately thinks of the head-bob and SNL. To the reviewers credit, he does post an update, after (I’m assuming) numerous emails detailing his lack of useless pop culture knowledge:

(Update: The man at the end of the ad, readers point out, is Chris Kattan, and the head-bob a reference to A Night at the Roxbury. Not that I especially wanted to relive that movie.)

Even so, at least know what you are reviewing before you review it.

Here’s a link to all the reviews. There are some other bad reviews in there, but this one stood out to me as the worst.

Who is Emma Clarke? She used to be the voice of London’s underground. She “used” to be the voice until she released some rather hilarious fake underground annoucements on her website.

For example,

“We’d like to remind our American tourist friends that you are almost certainly talking too loud.”

C’mon England! That’s funny!
